Cheap dinner ideas from Winn-Dixie deals
Updated
How to turn this week’s Winn-Dixie sale into dinners that cost a few dollars a serving, with the proteins, produce, and pantry items Penny Meals found on sale.
Five cheap dinners to build from any week’s sale
- Sheet-pan dinner. A marked-down protein (sausage, chicken thighs, or pork chops) roasted on one pan with whatever vegetable is on sale. One pan, about 40 minutes.
- Rice or grain bowl. Cheap rice or a bag of grains, a sale protein or a can of beans, and a fresh or frozen vegetable. Top with any sauce you already have.
- Pasta night. A box of pasta, a jar of sauce or canned tomatoes, and whichever meat or vegetable is cheapest this week. It feeds four for a few dollars.
- Soup or chili. Canned beans and tomatoes with ground meat or vegetables on sale. Makes enough for a second dinner.
- Breakfast for dinner. Eggs, bread or tortillas, and a sale vegetable or potatoes. The cheapest dinner most weeks.
