Ingredients

Prices are from Kroger the week of October 18, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and brown pork chops on both sides, about 4 minutes total.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in tomatoes with their juice, breaking them apart with a spoon, and add oregano, salt and pepper.
  4. Simmer for 15 minutes until pork is cooked through and sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Thaw and squeeze spinach, then stir into sauce and simmer 2 more minutes.
  6. Serve with crusty bread for soaking up the sauce.

Why it’s cheap

2 of the 9 ingredients were on sale at Kroger the week of October 18, 2026, led by boneless pork chops at $3.00 instead of $5.00.

The sale items rang up $4.99 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $2.06 a serving, or $8.24 for 4 servings.
