Ingredients

Prices are from Sprouts the week of October 11, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then sauté diced onion and minced garlic until soft, about 3 minutes.
  2. Stir in cumin and paprika, then add canned tomatoes with their juice and white beans, and bring to a simmer.
  3. Add spinach and stir until wilted, then make 6 small wells in the sauce and crack an egg into each.
  4. Cover the skillet and cook until eggs are set to your liking, 5 to 8 minutes.
  5. While eggs cook, follow package directions to bake focaccia, then slice and serve alongside the shakshuka.

Why it’s cheap

2 of the 11 ingredients were on sale at Sprouts the week of October 11, 2026, led by sprouts organic pasture raised eggs at $9.99.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $2.74 a serving, or $10.96 for 4 servings.
