Ingredients

Prices are from Kroger the week of October 18, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add tomatoes and oregano to the skillet, breaking them up as they cook. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Spread frozen mixed vegetables on a baking sheet, toss with 1 tablespoon oil, salt, and pepper. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes until tender.
  4. Arrange fish portions over the tomato sauce in the skillet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until heated through.
  5. Serve fish and sauce with the roasted vegetables on the side.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 8 ingredients were on sale at Kroger the week of October 18, 2026, led by crispy battered fish portions at $5.99 instead of $11.99.

The sale items rang up $9.61 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.67 a serving, or $6.68 for 4 servings.
