Ingredients

Prices are from Publix the week of October 18, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Drain tuna well and flake into a bowl. Stir in egg, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, mustard, salt and pepper until just combined.
  2. Form mixture into 8 patties, each about 3 inches wide. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook tuna cakes 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.
  4. Trim green beans and add to the same skillet. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, 6 to 8 minutes until tender-crisp and lightly browned.
  5. Season beans with salt and pepper. Serve tuna cakes alongside green beans.

Why it’s cheap

2 of the 9 ingredients were on sale at Publix the week of October 18, 2026, led by bumble bee chunk light tuna, in water at $2.99 instead of $4.85.

The sale items rang up $3.35 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.39 a serving, or $5.56 for 4 servings.
