Ingredients

Prices are from Walmart the week of October 4, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it cooks, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add water and bring to a boil.
  3. Stir in the Hamburger Helper packet contents and pasta, stirring to combine.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes until pasta is tender.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in milk and butter until the sauce thickens.
  6. Halve the grape tomatoes and fold them gently into the finished dish.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve.

Why it’s cheap

2 of the 8 ingredients were on sale at Walmart the week of October 4, 2026, led by hamburger helper cheeseburger macaroni at $1.23 instead of $1.78.

The sale items rang up $1.44 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $2.05 a serving, or $8.20 for 4 servings.
