Ingredients

Prices are from Walmart the week of October 4, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Form the burger patties into four thick patties and season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a little butter and cook the burgers 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium, turning once. Top each with a slice of cheddar in the final minute and cover to melt.
  3. Meanwhile prepare the cheddar broccoli rice according to package directions.
  4. Toast the hamburger buns lightly in a dry skillet if you like.
  5. Serve the burgers on buns with the rice and broccoli florets on the side.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 8 ingredients were on sale at Walmart the week of October 4, 2026, led by beef and pork burger patties at $3.50 instead of $12.84.

The sale items rang up $11.73 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.83 a serving, or $7.32 for 4 servings.
