  1. Bake crescent rolls according to package directions, about 12 minutes, until golden.
  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and crumble in pork shoulder meat.
  3. Cook pork 8 to 10 minutes, stirring, until no pink remains.
  4. Chop green peppers into 0.5-inch pieces and add to the skillet.
  5. Cook peppers 3 to 4 minutes until they start to soften.
  6. Stir in Manwich sauce and simmer 2 minutes.
  7. Place one cheese slice on each warm roll, top with sloppy joe meat, and serve.

Why it’s cheap

5 of the 8 ingredients were on sale at Publix the week of October 4, 2026, led by publix pork whole shoulder, merchandised pack at $2.00 instead of $3.99.

The sale items rang up $10.99 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.45 a serving, or $5.80 for 4 servings.
