Ingredients

Prices are from Sprouts the week of October 18, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Toss frozen sweet potato fries with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper, spread on a baking sheet and roast for 20 minutes until golden.
  2. While fries cook, dice onion and mince garlic. Heat 2 tbsp. olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, add onion and garlic, cook until soft about 3 minutes.
  3. Chop tomatoes and add to skillet with basil, salt and pepper. Simmer 8 to 10 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Add meatballs to tomato sauce and heat through, about 5 minutes. Serve over or alongside the sweet potato fries.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 9 ingredients were on sale at Sprouts the week of October 18, 2026, led by amylu chicken meatballs at $5.99.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $2.68 a serving, or $10.72 for 4 servings.
