Ingredients

Prices are from Publix the week of October 11, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season pork chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
  2. Sear chops for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove to a plate.
  3. Slice peppers into strips and add to the same skillet, cooking 3 to 4 minutes until starting to soften.
  4. Pour in tomatoes, sprinkle with oregano, and return pork chops to the pan. Simmer covered for 12 to 15 minutes until chops are cooked through.
  5. Serve over rice or pasta.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 9 ingredients were on sale at Publix the week of October 11, 2026, led by pork shoulder blade steaks at $2.25 instead of $4.49.

The sale items rang up $6.37 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.73 a serving, or $6.92 for 4 servings.
