Ingredients

Prices are from Walmart the week of October 11, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Slice the sausage into rounds and heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Brown the sausage until the edges crisp, about 5 minutes, then push to the side.
  3. Chop the bell pepper and onion, add to the pan, and cook until soft, about 4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the corn and season with salt and pepper, cooking until heated through, about 2 minutes.
  5. Serve over cooked white rice.

Why it’s cheap

2 of the 7 ingredients were on sale at Walmart the week of October 11, 2026, led by smoked sausage at $0.16 instead of $2.16.

The sale items rang up $2.32 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $0.73 a serving, or $2.92 for 4 servings.
