Ingredients

Prices are from Walmart the week of October 4, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Cut potatoes into half-inch cubes and chop the onion into small pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the potatoes and onion.
  3. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and the edges brown.
  4. Chop the dried beef into small pieces and add it to the skillet along with the corn and its liquid.
  5. Stir and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and serve.

Why it’s cheap

2 of the 7 ingredients were on sale at Walmart the week of October 4, 2026, led by armour star sliced dried beef at $2.50 instead of $4.48.

The sale items rang up $2.32 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.50 a serving, or $4.50 for 3 servings.
