Ingredients

Prices are from ALDI the week of October 18, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 4 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in both cans of beans with their liquid and the tomato basil sauce. Stir well to combine.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let the flavors meld.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in fresh basil if using.
  6. Divide into bowls and drizzle with a bit more olive oil before serving.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 8 ingredients were on sale at ALDI the week of October 18, 2026, led by dakota's pride aldi mild chili beans at $0.85 instead of $0.92.

The sale items rang up $2.47 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.13 a serving, or $4.52 for 4 servings.
