Ingredients

Prices are from Walmart the week of October 11, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Cut corn kernels off the cob with a knife and set aside.
  2. Warm the refried beans in a small pot over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until soft and spreadable, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and lightly oil it.
  4. Spread a thin layer of warm beans on one half of a tortilla, sprinkle some corn kernels on top, then fold in half.
  5. Cook the quesadilla in the skillet until the tortilla is golden and crispy, about 2 to 3 minutes per side, then transfer to a plate.
  6. Repeat with remaining tortillas.
  7. Warm the queso dip in a small saucepan and serve on the side for dipping.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 6 ingredients were on sale at Walmart the week of October 11, 2026, led by la sierra refried pinto beans at $0.75 instead of $1.83.

The sale items rang up $4.47 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $1.06 a serving, or $4.24 for 4 servings.
