Ingredients

Prices are from Walmart the week of October 11, 2026. Sale prices change every week and differ by store.

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Stir together cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs with milk and melted butter, then fold into the dry ingredients until just combined. Pour into a greased 8-inch skillet and bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden.
  2. While cornbread bakes, heat the cheddar soup in a pot with 1 cup milk over medium heat, stirring often.
  3. Drain and warm the frozen corn and canned green beans in a small saucepan.
  4. Ladle soup into bowls and serve alongside cornbread with the vegetables on the side.

Why it’s cheap

3 of the 10 ingredients were on sale at Walmart the week of October 11, 2026, led by condensed cheddar cheese soup at $1.00 instead of $1.98.

The sale items rang up $3.86 under their regular prices.

Penny Meals prices a dinner by the share of each package you actually cook, adds an estimated shelf price for anything that wasn’t on sale, and counts pantry staples like oil and salt as free. That came to $0.83 a serving, or $3.32 for 4 servings.
